Remote Medic

Ronin currently offers an Intermediate Remote Medic Course which incorporates the Institute of Health Care Development (IHCD / Edexcel - United Kingdom) Ambulance Technician Award as well as the Ship Captains Medic Award accredited by the South African Maritime Safety Authority (SAMSA). On completion of the course it does not only entitles successful students to practice as an Ambulance Technician within the United Kingdom for the NHS or Independent Ambulance Services, but also to render vital emergency medical assistance within the remote medical setting e.g. aboard ships, aircraft, remote expeditions, high risk close protection and remote special forces operations.
On completion of the Intermediate Remote Medic Course successful graduates can return to complete the Advanced Remote Medic Course. This modular course uses the IHCD Paramedic modules (G, H, I & J) as a basis for its accreditation. It trains and equips Medics to work independently in a remote setting in some of the world most hostile and challenging environments. Ronin's Remote Medicine Courses is presented in conjunction with the Division of Emergency Medicine of the Universities of Cape Town and Stellenbosch.
Ronin's international reputation for excellence affords a student a rare training experience within a country with the highest trauma levels per capita in the world, as well as high levels of poverty with the associated disease spectrum. Our services to the community are free of charge and in support of a long standing community public / private partnership not for gain. The funding of this venture is the privilege of every graduate of Ronin and a significant contribution to South Africa's poorest, of which they can be proud.
